Opportunity pursuit is the watchword of any professional conference, and the STC Spring 2005 Conference, to be held from May 12 through May 14, will be heavily loaded with insights to enable attendees to gain new business. The site for this conference will be sunny and warm South Miami, known, of course, for much more than its famous pop music culture and Biscayne Bay cigarette boat chases involving celebrity vice detectives. This part of Miami is also famous for its rich history and international flavor. In fact, the conference will be held at the luxurious Wyndham Grand Bay-Coconut Grove, which overlooks Biscayne Bay. A Euro Dimension The keynote speaker for the conference will be Bülent Bicer, President of Euromarket Partners, who will speak about telecom consulting opportunities in the new Europe, the second largest economic region in the world. Mr. Bicer will describe how the telecommunications sector is strongly promoted, supported and funded by the European Union, and he will explain how STC members here in the United States are well-positioned to benefit from these new opportunities. In particular, he will discuss the benefits and opportunities of doing business in “New Europe,” and he will identify the players, programs |

and trends in Europe in terms of consulting opportunities. Practice Refinement Other conference topics will include a look into the minds of corporate decision-makers, in a success story panel session that will address and what makes, and keeps, enterprise end users happy. The session with SBC General Counsel John di Bene, will provide a hands-on approach to getting in the door to sell services, and how to stay hired once you get there. Practice management sessions will address a number of issues, including where the real money lies in consulting, building |

effective project teams, and taming the “clutter monkey.” Technical sessions include video and distance learning, wireless network development strategies, needs assessments, and a regulatory update. Arrive Early and Relax The Nate Mire Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Thursday afternoon on the historic Crandon Golf Key Biscayne course—a chance to golf in paradise. Not a golfer? Enjoy an afternoon playing tennis at the Crandon Park Tennis Center, or enjoy the area’s rich historic district. |
