Conference Overview
St. Louis – Gateway to the West…or East if you are coming from the left coast. In any event, the Society of Telecommunications Consultants is hosting its Spring 2008 Conference with a lineup of interesting and educational sessions, and I invite you to join me there.
Wednesday morning’s pre-conference session has Cisco’s Bill King providing insight into future directions of telecommunications and a case study on unified communications. Then join us for some fun in the sun at either the Nate Mire Memorial Golf outing or tennis. The Welcome Reception that evening will provide your first of numerous networking opportunities along with some good eats and beverages. The “after glow” reception in the President’s suite will let you get in more networking time and story-swapping with colleagues.
The technical and practice management sessions we have lined up for Thursday and Friday will make you glad you came:
- Mitel’s Joe Ward will be our keynoter with compelling aspects for the increasingly popular “managed services” offerings we are encountering.
- Martha Buyer, STC’s regulatory attorney will be a featured speaker with her popular, made-to-order presentation on legal topics that you provide to her.
- Mick Sawka from the Brookside Group will share his recent survey results on consultants’ marketing and spheres of influence.
- Cal Harrison will sharpen our business skills with his session “Selling Consulting When You’re Too Busy Consulting”..
- Marty Parker from UniComm and Todd Sharp from Engage, Inc. give us some real world perspectives on unified communications and how best to specify them for our clients.
- The technical sessions will include case studies, WiFi implementation, E911 solutions, and ADA considerations for telecommunications.
- Denise Munro and Peter Eisenhut will reprise their informative and fun workshop, “Show Me the Money III.”
You can count on plenty of networking opportunities including a new twist on “VAC speed dating” and a scenic dinner cruise down “Old Man River” on Thursday evening.
STC conferences are a prime time to find out what your colleagues do and who might be a potential teaming partner. Networking with the VAC could reveal products and services that address your client’s specific issues and situations. |
