The Society of Telecommunications Consultants (STC) is hosting its Fall 2010 Conference from September 28 to October 1 at the Omni Mandalay at Las Colinas hotel in beautiful Dallas, TX.

The conference committee has assembled a strong program of real-world case studies, practice management, technology and market updates. There will also be plenty of formal and informal networking time built in to the schedule to begin or renew those professional relationships with your fellow STC and CTCA colleagues along with members from the STC Vendor Advisory Council (VAC) and CTCA Suppliers Liaison Group (SLG). Non-members, end users, and other telecom professionals are also invited to attend.

Check out the brochure and you will see items that will be of interest to all in attendance. We’ll start the conference with our annual golf outing, followed by a Pre-conference session on TEM that will address two of the biggest issues facing our clients today: 1) Cost reduction, and 2) Competing on an international basis. This fast paced session will provide valuable real world skills
and will demonstrate that TEM goes far beyond bill auditing. This interactive session alone will be worth the trip. We are also lucky enough to have lined up:

A keynote by David Janz with his engaging look at the future of technology and its impact

Martha Buyer, STC’s regulatory attorney for her always informative regulatory update

A lock-note session by one of the STC favorites, Brad Cleveland

We will once again be conducting a “Vendor Day” with 15 abbreviated no-holds-barred vendor update sessions. With travel budgets under attack for vendors and consultant alike, the quantity and diversity of product and market updates packed into this single day format provide unbeatable value. For those consultants that don’t have the time or budget to attend individual vendor CLP seminars, this day is a must. The VAC networking evening event provides an opportunity to network with multiple industry leading
vendors in a relaxed one-to-one basis, all in a single evening.

The economic outlook still remains a mixed bag. Some members are certainly busier than others. This makes attending a STC conference even more relevant and valuable to your practices. The opportunity for renewing old relationships and starting new ones remains one of the most valuable elements of STC membership. The STC (and our CTCA friends up north) are unique in the industry. I don’t know of any other professional organization or society that actively shares information, experiences and teaming opportunities
as freely and openly we do. All you have to do is be willing to participate. Telecom consulting remains, as always, a relationship business. You can’t do that over the phone.
